Diabetes  affects 11 million Canadians, but Black Canadians stand the highest chance of dealing with the gravity of the disease – Canadians of African descent are more likely to end up needing a lower leg amputation, develop kidney failure or even die of diabetes-related complications.
In order to shed light on the disease, Melissa Lena Ross, pharmacist and owner of the Montreal West Pharmaprix, will be holding an information session, with a Q&A at the end, on Tuesday, May 3, 4 p.m., at the BCRC, 6767 Cote des Neiges Rd.
During the session, Ross will discuss the differences between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, risk factors, and the signs and symptoms associated with the disease.
The event is free, but in order to attend you must call the BCRC at 514-342-2247 to reserve a place.
