The good men and women of the Saint Lucia fire services will be getting some new equipment to help them in their daily task of protecting citizens against loss of life and property, from the effects of fire, accidents, natural and man-made disasters and hazards.
The country is the recipient of two fire trucks from Firefighters Without Borders (FWB), who made the donation through the Consulate General of Saint Lucia in Toronto.
Over the years the FWB has also donated other firefighting equipment, such as personal protective gear, PASS alarms, protective boots and clothing, and numerous other related items to the St. Lucia Fire Service.
The shipment of one of the trucks is being taken care of by the FWB and the consulate in conjunction with the Saint Lucia-Toronto Association, Girls United Foundation and other Saint Lucian associations in Canada
are now in the process of raising the additional $12,000 needed to ship the second truck to St. Lucia.
They’re appealing to St. Lucians or anyone willing to contribute to this cause.
Cheques can be made payable to: The Saint Lucia-Toronto Association at 909-60 Saint Clair Avenue East
Toronto, ON M4T 1N5
They have also created a GoFundMe page to accelerate the speed of getting this vitally important vehicle to the Caribbean.
