Be The Change…

Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself: [L. Tolstoy] It’s so easy to look at someone and decide that they need to change, but it’s not quite as easy to look within and realize that you might be the one that actually needs to make some adjustments. Mathew 7:3-5  tells us:  “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?  How can you say to your brother, let me take the speck out of your eye, when all the …

Kindness Matters

Be the reason someone feels incredibly loved and encouraged… Life can definitely be hard at times. We all know that the struggles of life are real, but a kind word can literally change someone’s entire world. Kindness is not a sign of weakness, kindness requires courage and it requires you to be vulnerable. Every single day you have an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life, even the smallest gesture can make a big difference. Think about it… Are you a kind person? Do you routinely show acts of kindness? We have no idea what people are going through …

It’s About Time

I recently worked with a couple at the hospital that was scheduled to deliver their infant who had a terminal condition. Prior to the delivery we discussed their expectations and fears and walked through what the process would be like, because we weren’t really sure how long the infant would live. Their little baby boy lived for less than an hour and the parents were so happy that he was able to hold on for those precious few minutes after birth. They celebrated each and every moment that they had with him. It was truly a sad yet beautiful time …

Don’t Just Survive… Thrive!

We were meant to thrive, not just survive. To thrive means to develop, to grow, to prosper and to flourish. So what steps are you taking to begin your journey from survival mode to thriving? I know what you’re thinking… “I’m just trying to get by…”   “You don’t know what I’m going through, or the challenges that I’m facing.” Yes, I know… there are periods in our lives when we have to go into survival mode, just to survive. I understand that, but the key is making the decision to NOT stay in survival mode permanently. Life can be hard, …

Focus! Focus! Focus!

What you decide to focus on will determine your present reality. So, my questions are: What are you focusing on? Where are you placing all of your energy? Does your focus promote positivity or negativity in your life? Peter McWilliams said, “Our thoughts create our reality, where we put our focus is the direction we tend to go.” When I think of the word “focus”, I think of driving a car. When you’re driving, you look straight ahead and you usually know where you’re going. You are aware that there may be a few obstacles along the way like stop …

Tidying Up Your Life!

There is freedom and peace in letting go. It’s time to simplify. It’s time to think about tidying up your life. It’s time to get rid of all of the excess baggage that’s been holding you back mentally, emotionally and physically. I know that I’ve previously talked about the importance of releasing those things that are not helping you to move forward and grow as a person; that’s because it’s important to remember excess baggage doesn’t just affect what’s going on around you, it also affects what’s going on inside of you. We surround ourselves with so much stuff and …

What’s New?

Happy and Blessed New Year 2019! Two thousand nineteen is here! A year that will be filled with new adventures, goals, challenges, obstacles and new beginnings with renewed strength and hope. We have an opportunity to begin a new chapter or complete or restore an old one, but nothing will change unless our attitudes, actions and mindsets change. It’s time to decide to let go or hold on, to move forward or be still, to challenge yourself, to look within, to love, to heal, to seek God as He shows you His truth and purpose for your life. It’s important …

What Do You Expect?

Can you believe that the holiday season is right around the corner? I’m sure that you have some expectations about what your holiday should be like. Many of you will be getting together with family and friends for a time of celebration and for some people that’s great; but for others it will be a real challenge. It’s important to remember that… Sometimes we have unrealistic expectations, especially around this time of the year, about what the holiday season should look like. Sometimes it works out the way that you envisioned, other times the reality is that it may not …

Thank-You!

Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has many, not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some. [Charles Dickens] It’s US Thanksgiving week, so I wanted to talk about gratitude. Gratitude is an everyday practice it’s not just something centered around a particular holiday. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow. Remember: Riches don’t come from your abundance of worldly goods, but from a contented mind. Acknowledging your blessings is key to victorious living. We have so much to be grateful for and when we don’t …
